Bill Sutherland MIET

Operations Director

Background

Bill began his career with Deans Electrical Ltd as a JIB Apprentice Electrician in August 1980, qualifying as an approved electrician in January 1985. He was immediately given responsibility as foreman and supervisor for several construction sites, managing all aspects associated with electrical engineering.

Demonstrating a natural leaning towards the academic and safety side of electrical engineering, Bill joined the Lowe Group (later to become NECTA)  in November 1998 as an electrical safety inspector. Showing leadership qualities Bill began developing the technical arm of the inspection and testing department, designing competence testing for the inspectors, whilst structuring the internal reports department. This culminated in a unique website reporting methodology, highly customisable for the demands of a varied and demanding client base. Throughout his 11 years at The Lowe Group and from September 2008, Connaught, Bill represented the company as an NICEIC Qualifying Supervisor and principle duty holder and attained distinguished grades in his C&G 2400 and NEBOSH examinations. As the company’s most senior technical and safety representative, he earned respect from both his direct workforce, numbering 150 staff and over 200 end user clients.

Given Bill’s reputation and value in the market place, he decided to leave Connaught and formed Guardian Electrical Compliance Ltd in September 2010, inviting his former colleagues and directors of NECTA on to the board of directors.
