😱Check out our latest find which was discovered by one of our inspectors during a recent visit to an education setting. As can be seen below, there is an earth pin which has previously broken off within the socket, leaving the live and neutral conductors exposed at the bottom.
⚠️Members of staff on site are often unaware of the dangers which may arise if students are caught jamming objects into open pin sockets! It is imperative that these issues are avoided as much as possible, and remedial action is taken ASAP.
✅Fortunately, our inspectors acted immediately, the broken pin was removed, and the shutters were checked to ensure they correctly operated.
📜There are several regulations which are breached in this situation, according to BS7671 including 416.2 – Barriers or enclosures are intended to prevent contact with live parts. Due to the earthing pin leaving the shutters open, the live and neutral conductors are exposed to external contact.
