📸This weeks’ find has been brought to you by Guardian’s fixed inspector, Andrew Dunn who discovered the pictured distribution board whilst recently conducting a full inspection and test, at a clients’ site.
🕵🏻As can be seen below, this DB in an extremely unsafe condition, and has seen better days…
The enclosure is visibly heavily corroded with large holes underneath, exposing the live wires inside and therefore no longer provides the necessary protection against accidental contact, water ingress, dust or pests. The rust around the cable entry point further emphasises the poor condition of the enclosure and increases the risk of electrical faults, short circuits, or even fire.
📜Therefore, to be compliant with Regulation 522.4.2, this board needed ‘additional precautions’ to ‘prevent the accumulation of dust or other substances in quantities which could adversely affect heat dissipation from the wiring system’.
