🤝Panel Risk Assessments provide duty holders and authorised persons of any electrical panel with documented evidence of the condition of or enclosure, that may pose a risk to persons carrying out works. Where there is a foreseeable risk of harm, risk assessments must be undertaken by competent persons.
Panel Risk Assessments also help bridge the gap between EICR’s inspected to BS 7671 and other British safety standards, such as BS EN 60204-1, which covers the electrical equipment of machines.
Panels are often installed, modified and maintained without the relevant risk assessment, maintenance or remedial documentation being produced. This often leads to electrical incidents!
Without knowing what assets exist and their condition, a Dutyholder would struggle to demonstrate compliance in the event of an EaWR 1989 breach, with just a few of the following regulations.
📜 Regulation 4 (1) – All systems shall at all times be of such construction as to prevent, so far as is reasonably practicable, danger.
📜 Regulation 4 (2) – As may be necessary to prevent danger, all systems shall be maintained so as to prevent, so far as is reasonably practicable, such danger.
📜 Regulation 6 – Electrical equipment which may reasonably foreseeably be exposed to mechanical damage, the effects of the weather, natural hazards, temperature or pressure, the effects of wet, dirty, dusty or corrosive conditions; or any flammable or explosive substance, including dusts, vapours or gases.
