It’s that time of the week already… it’s Fridays Find!
Take a look at this weeks’ fiery find that was found whilst out on-site conducting a fixed wire inspection and test. As a result of undertaking a thermographic survey on site, it revealed this very hot cable gland which was sat at 207°C.
Thanks to the thorough inspection, it was found that a CT coil which was energised, but not in use, was resting against it and therefore was acting as a heating element due to electromagnetic forces.
Regulation 5 of HSE The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 states that; “No electrical equipment shall be put into use where its strength and capability may be exceeded in such a way as may give rise to danger”.
