It’s Friday, and you know what that means – Friday Finds are back!
This week, while carrying out an EICR, our inspectors Jamie and Brian uncovered some serious safety hazards. 🔥
First, they discovered cut cables protruding from a wall that were still connected to the distribution board – and shockingly, the circuit breaker was still live! This posed an extreme risk of electric shock, burns, muscle contractions, and even fire.
⚡But that wasn’t all… Upon further inspection, they found copper wire being used in place of a cartridge fuse or rated fuse wire within the fuse carriers. This is incredibly dangerous and creates a severe risk of fire, electrocution, and damage to electrical systems and appliances.
📜Section 533 – Devices for protection against overcurrent and Regulation 536.4.203 Integration of devices and components – Components are suitable according to manufacturers’ assembly instructions or literature.
Our inspectors delivered outstanding work on site—quickly identifying code 1(C1 means immediate danger and requires urgent actions) and code 2 (C2 means potential real & immediate danger action is required as a matter of urgency). Taking immediate action to eliminate hazards. Their swift response ensured full compliance and kept the building safe and secure for everyone.
🔌Fuses are a critical safety mechanism designed to protect wiring and people from harm. If a fuse blows, it signals an underlying issue in the circuit that needs immediate attention – not a quick fix with copper wire!
