🕵🏻This weeks’ edition is brought to you by Guardians Fixed Inspector, Kevin Peacock who discovered the following pictures whilst conducting a full inspection on site. Funnily enough it was also found on a Friday too! 👏🏻😂
👀Upon removal of the distribution board cover, Kevin was greeted with the evidence of a previous flash-over which had been caused due to a poorly insulated crimp connection to the metal cover.
⚠️Thankfully, on this occasion the damage wasn’t serious enough to cause too much damage. However, the consequences of an ARC flash can be devasting, including burns, blast injuries & hearing damage.
📜Regulation 416.2.1 which states that. ‘‘Live parts shall be inside enclosures or behind barriers providing at least the degree of protection IPXXB or IP2X’.
The temporary fix of using cardboard as an insulator on the cover does not remove the fault…
🗣️The client was made aware of this discovery, and soon after were in the process of rectifying. Upon completion, the cover was refitted.
